This page will be devoted to my 1990 Radian. I originally owned a 1987 Rad that was purchased new in 1988. I drove it all over, several trips to Florida, plenty of northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin trips too. Drove it year round which in Chicago isn't always easy, but always fun. Still have the old '87 (mostly in pieces).

Originally intended this one to be my wife's, but after very promising practice drives she realized in was too hard on her back condition. My Suzuki SV650s was killing my shoulder (great bike though), so sold the SV and started enjoying the Radian all over again.

Data - 1990 Radian

• Purchased spring 2004 with unverfied mileage of 11,000
• Mods done by previous owner:
  • Custom red w/metallic glitter paint job (incl swingarm)
  • Jardine slip-on mufflers
  • Short stalk turn signals wired to serve as running lights
  • Replaced all front bearings, seals, and fork springs
• Mods and Repairs I've done so far:
  • Replaced the spotless Jardines with original (not spotless) mufflers from my old '87 - 2004
    The rad ran poorly with the Jardines, not sure why. Besides I wanted a center stand which was missing since the Jardines hang too low.
  • New rear tire - 2004

  • Had carbs rebuilt borrowing parts from the '87 & tune-up too - 2004
    Some of the carbs were superglued together!
  • Added the center stand from the '87 Rad - 2004

  • Replaced damaged speedometer with old '87 one - 2005
  • Clubman handlebars w/foam grips (from www.oldbikebarn.com) - 2005
    The handlebar offsets (slightly up and back) were purchased back in the eighties, can't remember where.

  • Headlight brackets (from jcwmotorcycle.com) - 2005
  • Magnetic tank bag (Nelson Rigg) - 2005
  • Had gas tank repainted at local body shop - 2004
  • Replaced non-functioning horn (from www.oldbikebarn.com) - 2005
  • Install small black (Maier) fairing
  • Restore and install a badly weathered Kerker 4 into 1 stainless/chrome exhaust system - 2005
  • Set Back Rear Turn Signal Lights - 2005
  • Mount small trunk - 2006
